Leaving the village at 9 am the tour heads off to Cawdor Castle (featured in Shakespeare’s Macbeth), passing through the quaint and historic village of Carrbridge and up through the wild moors of Glen Ferness.  The scenery is stunning so don't forget your camera - Loch an Dorb is a stunning location to stretch your legs and capture vacation memories through your lens.  Then a short trip taking you through Ferness and on towards the village of Cawdor where the beautiful grounds of Cawdor Castle awaits you.  Cawdor Castle is a magnificent ancient castle steeped in history and mystique.  It was in one of its corridors that Lady Macbeth discovered the blood stained dagger which prompted her to utter those famous lines "oh horror, horror, horror, most sacrilegious murder hath broken opes"!  Time at Cawdor is approximately 1.5 hours.  We leave Cawdor and head towards the Highland Capital of Inverness where we shall visit Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last battle to be fought on British soil.  This was the famous battle between Bonnie Prince Charlie championing the Scottish Jacobite cause and the Duke of Cumberland leading the English forces.  It was after the defeat of the Jacobites at Culloden that Prince Charlie fled "over the sea to Skye". The tour of the Battlefield and visitor centre takes approximately 2 hours. We now head back to the village via Tomatin with a possible stop at the world famous distillery (subject to available time). Tour of Cawdor Castle unavailable until Monday 8th May 2009
