 THURSDAY TOUR

Leaving Aviemore you travel past Loch Morlich and upward to the base station of Cairngorm Mountain. A short trip on the funicular railway will take you to the shop at the top, the viewing gallery, the historical exhibition and the large catering area where you can relax over a snack or a three course meal, while looking out over the Ptarmigan Bowl. After about an hour and a half it will be time to view the magnificent scenery as you descend to meet your transport before going to Newtonmore. Here you will be enthralled at the sights of the Highland Folk Park where you can step back in time and see what life was like in the Highland over the past few centuries. Also in Newtonmore you will be taken to the Clan MacPherson Museum which traces the history of this famous local Clan. Leaving Newtonmore we travel to the Speyside Heather Centre close to Skye of Curr and Dulnain Bridge. At the Centre you can walk through the grounds and see a large selection of Scottish Heathers and other local plants. Much of the produce can be purchased and gift wrapped for shipping overseas. There is a well stocked gift shop, a boutique, an art gallery and the famous “Clootie Dumpling” tea room. The tour will then return you to your accommodation by late afternoon.
