WEDNESDAY TOUR

Leaving Aviemore you travel through the magnificent and picturesque Spey Valley to Ballindalloch Castle. The journey takes you along the famed “Whisky Trail”, where many world famous whiskies are distilled using water from the equally famous River Spey. Ballindalloch Castle is one of the most beautiful and renowned castles in Scotland and is often referred to as “The Pearl of the North”. Ballindalloch was built in 1546 by the MacPherson-Grant family, and has remained in the same family to the present day – Sir John and Lady Clare Macpherson-Grant will be pleased to show you around their family home. From Ballindalloch we travel to The Glenfiddich Distillery home of the world famous malt whisky bearing its name. At the end of the distillery tour you may have the opportunity of tasting this most famous of “drams”! Leaving the distillery behind we go to the Speyside Cooperage where the barrels are made for storing whisky throughout the area. The art of barrel-making is a craft that has existed in Britain for many centuries, and this historic way of making barrels is still favored to modern production methods. The tour will then return you to your accommodation by late afternoon.
